Does the world have any secret trillionaires?

Does the world have any secret trillionaires?
The problem with questions like this, is that it can lead to conspiracy theories.
There is a lot of speculation that there are some secret trillionaires, including some of Europe’s royal families:
However, note:
1. Nothing has been proven
2. It is unlikely in the world we live in today, that you can keep that kind of wealth secret - open banking information and so on
3. The only way this could exist, is if some dictators are using loads of other people as fronts. In other words, money laundering by using other people, cash and so on. So for example, if the leader of North Korea is much wealthier than expected, it is highly likely the money won’t be directly in his name. So again, impossible to prove.
When dictators have been removed from power, there was a lot of speculation about “billions and billions hidden in Swiss banks”.
It turned out to be much less than that. That doesn’t mean corruption doesn’t exist, merely that the conspiracy theories are quite outlandish.
Moreover, also remember that many aristocrats and formerly wealthy people have become broke, historically.
The British Royal Family are a great example of that. It isn’t a new thing for them to marry into industry, due to mismanagement of money.
And that is another issue I have with some of these conspiracy theories.
They are implying there is a permanent economic class, that due to inheritance, has build up this wealth over long periods of time.
In reality, there are countless people who have lost inheritance and most wealthy people were poor middle-class or poor.
So the idea that there are these elites who pass down loads of wealth, and that their sons and daughters don’t lose the wealth, just isn’t true.
As the old Chinese saying goes, wealth seldom lasts three generations or more.

What were the saddest last words in history?

Our landlord says he fathered my second baby, insists on naming him —Husband

An Ibadan-based truck driver, Azeez Hakeem, on Tuesday, told an Ile-Tuntun Customary Court in Ibadan that his wife, Mufuli, was fond of sleeping with their landlord.

Hakeem, who lives at Popo Yemoja area of Ibadan, stated this while reacting to his wife’s allegation of battery before the president of the court, Henry Agbaje.

He said that while Mufuli was pregnant with their second child, their landlord claimed the pregnancy as his.

“After the child was born, he came to my parents’ house, insisting on being the one to name the child.

“We resolved this issue, but she still didn’t desist from her promiscuous attitude.

“She’s usually not concerned about the children’s dinner, as she returns home very late, with the excuse of going to pray in the mosque.

“Even after she left the house, I still rented her another apartment and took care of the kids,” he said.

Hakeem told the court that his younger brother once called him on phone to inform him of his wife’s newfound lover.

“I confirmed this to be true when I went to her house, but I did nothing about it,” he said.

Earlier, the plaintiff had informed the court that her husband was in the habit of beating her, even in front of the children.

Mufuli claimed that the serial beating forced her to leave her matrimonial home.

“I refused to leave him against the advice of our family members and friends, choosing rather to endure the battery because I didn’t want to remarry.

“However, when the beating became unbearable, I left the house in 2016. I started dating another man last year, and when he found out, he came to beat him up,” she told the court.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the president of the court advised the couple to resolve their differences for the sake of their children.

He, however, adjourned the case till December 9 for feedback.

Melania Trump booed by high and middle school students at opioid summit, Baltimore

Melania Trump was booed when she spoke about the battle with opioid addiction at a Youth Summit in Baltimore Tuesday.

The first lady was loudly booed by the audience of mostly middle and high school students for about a minute when she walked on stage and again when she concluded her short remarks.

Students also talked loudly over her when she addressed them, resulting in the first lady to briefly interrupt her remarks with a 'hello.'

It is believed to be the first time Melania Trump has been booed at a solo event. She was met with protesters outside a Boston hospital event earlier this month, and was at the World Series match in Washington D.C. last month where her husband was loudly booed.

'Thank you for the warm introduction and for inviting me to join you today for such an important event centered on opioid awareness,' she began as the boos continued.

President Donald Trump has been a critic of the majority-black city, calling it a 'rat and rodent infested mess' this summer.

Andy Ruiz Jr vows to beat Anthony Joshua for a second time

Andy Ruiz Jr has vowed to "make history again" in his world heavyweight title rematch with Anthony Joshua.

Ruiz Jr, 30, arrived in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to begin preparations for the 'Clash On The Dunes' on 7 December.

"It feels good. You know I made history in New York and I'll make history again in Saudi Arabia," he said.

Joshua, 30, is seeking to regain the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles after his shock defeat by Ruiz in New York in June.

The bout is the first heavyweight world title fight to take place in the Middle East and will be staged in the 15,000-seat Diriyah Arena.

Work on the purpose-built stadium only began in October but it is now close to completion.

Joshua visited the arena, which promoter Eddie Hearn described as "utterly breathtaking", on Saturday.

In June, Mexican-American Ruiz floored Joshua four times en route to a seventh-round stoppage at Madison Square Garden, handing the Briton his first defeat as a professional.

Motorcyclist rescuing accident victim electrocuted in Lagos

A motorcyclist, Abdullahi Hassan, has died while attempting to rescue a yet-to-be-identified mechanic, who was involved in an accident at Festac Town in the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.

Punch Metro gathered that the mechanic, while driving a Toyota Venza on top speed on the G1 Close, 21 Road, Festac, ran into an electric pole and knocked it down in the process.

While the pole fell, the wires on it were said to have snapped and fell to the ground.

It was learnt that the impact of the crash caused the car to tumble and people at the scene of the accident rushed to rescue the mechanic.

Hassan, who was riding his motorcycle on the road, was said to have also parked in a bid to assist in rescuing the mechanic, who got stuck in the vehicle, but he got electrocuted after stepping on the wires that were on the ground.

When Punch Metro visited the accident scene on Monday, traders and residents of the area said when they noticed that Hassan had been electrocuted, they gave him milk in a bid to revive him and he was later taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A trader, who simply identified herself as Mama Chima, said there was power outage when the car crashed into the pole, but as people gathered to rescue the mechanic, power was restored and the fallen wires electrocuted Hassan

She said, “The accident happened a week ago; the man (Hassan) was not killed by the car involved in the accident, it was the wires that fell from the pole that electrocuted him. There was no power supply when the accident occurred, so people gathered there. Suddenly, power was restored and Hassan’s body touched a naked wire and it electrocuted him and slammed him on the ground.

“Onlookers thought it was a minor issue, so they brought milk and gave him, but he later died. The people had already rescued the mechanic involved in the accident and Hassan was among those, who gathered at the scene of the accident.”

Punch Metro observed that the fallen pole had been abandoned on the sidewalk.

A resident of the area, Joshua Olushola, said the power distribution firm in charge of the area, after realising that the fallen wires were responsible for Hassan’s death, mobilised electricians to disconnect and evacuate them to prevent further calamities.

Olushola stated, “The car was driven by a mechanic on top speed when he ran into the pole. After the car had tumbled, people rushed to rescue him and it was after he had been rescued that the Hausa boy got electrocuted. We were even surprised that he was electrocuted; it was as if he had been predestined to die that way.

“Although I was not around because the accident happened early in the morning, but what I gathered was that the car ran into an electric pole and the pole is still on the floor, but electricians have come to take away the wires that killed the Hausa boy.

“The boy was riding his motorcycle when he saw people gathered at the accident scene, so he parked his motorcycle, disembarked and moved closer to observe what happened when he stepped on one of the wires and was electrocuted.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said Hassan was electrocuted while trying to assist in rescuing the victim of the accident, adding that his corpse had been released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

It's time we stop blaming President Buhari for everything - Garba Shehu

“We really must stop this habit of blaming President (Muhammadu) Buhari for everything, including issues that are not his business.”

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, was quoted as saying this during an interview with reporters on Tuesday in Abuja.

He was responding to the various reactions trailing the outcomes of the governorship elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kogi and Bayelsa States.

Governor Yahaya Bello and Mr David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated Mr Musa Wada and Senator Douye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi and Bayelsa States respectively.

Speaking specifically about the election in Bayelsa, Shehu faulted the purported reports that former President Goodluck Jonathan was blackmailed to support the APC.

He described such claims as false and irresponsible, wondering how such a story could be considered credible to the extent of being given space in some newspapers.

“It just doesn’t make any sense,” the President’s spokesman was quoted as saying in a statement by a deputy director of information, Abiodun Oladunjoye.

He stressed, “Our media really must learn to verify whatever they publish and people who make wild allegations during interviews should be made to produce the facts backing their claims by editors.”

“A newspaper can be sued for granting space to people who belch false allegations against individuals with no proof,” Shehu warned.

He noted that former President Jonathan had been out of power for about five years without any previous allegations of government blackmail cropping up.

Shehu, however, purported that there were more than enough reasons for Dr Jonathan to work against his party in the just concluded election in Bayelsa without interference by President Buhari.

He alleged, “Anyone who has been following the politics of Bayelsa State should be aware of the sour relationship between Dr Jonathan and the incumbent governor, Seriake Dickson.

“That’s more than enough reason for the former president to decide to work against his party, if indeed he did.”

Ex-governors, dep governors and other political office holders in Zamfara will no longer enjoy pension, entitlements

Former governors, deputy governors, and other political office holders in Zamfara State will no longer enjoy the payment of pension and other entitlements.

This development comes on the heels of outright repeal of the law that approves such payment by members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly.

The lawmakers abolished the law on Tuesday following a bill laid on the floor on the legislative chamber of the Assembly complex in Gusau, the state capital.

Presenting the bill, House Leader Faruk Dosara (PDP Maradun I) urged his collogues to as a matter of urgency consider the complete repeal of the law.

The law, according to him, provides the ‘jamboree pay’ for the former political leaders of the state at the detriment of the retired civil servants who have not been paid their entitlements over the years.

Dosara stressed that this category of past leaders were receiving over N700,000 million naira annually at a time when the state’s economy cannot accommodate such.

Seconding the motion, Tukur Tudu (PDP Bakura) explained that the abolition of the law was highly necessary as was detrimental to the socio-economic well-being of the people.

Following a series of deliberations and contributions by members, the Speaker, Nasiru Magarya, ordered the Clerk of the House to give the bill first and second reading.

The House, thereafter, went for a committee of a whole which led to the third reading of the bill.

The bill scaled through the third reading while members passed it and resolved that it should be sent to the state governor, Bello Matawalle, for his assent.

In a statement shortly after, the spokesperson for the House, Mustapha Kaura, noted that all past political leaders in Zamfara would no longer enjoy any entitlement, unless those prescribed by the National Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

Woman stabs lover to death over another affair

One Labake Olowookere has allegedly stabbed her lover, Seun Komolafe, to death with a fork after she reportedly caught him with another woman.

Labake, it was learnt, had visited Seun’s residence in the Okeopo area of Ilesha around 8pm on Monday to pick her cooking gas when she met another woman in the apartment.

After recovering from the initial shock, Labake was said to have picked a quarrel with Seun and the other woman, whose name could not be immediately ascertained.

In the ensuing fight, Labake allegedly picked up a fork and stabbed Seun in the stomach and he died on the spot.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mustafa Katayeyanjue, confirmed the incident and stated that the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Ige, had ordered an investigation into the matter.

He said, “Around 10.30pm on Monday, one Adeyemi Ojo of Araromi Street reported to the police that one Labake Olowookere of Ido Ijesha, a lover of Seun Komolafe of the Okeopo area of Ilesha, stabbed Seun in the stomach with a fork and killed him on the spot.

“From preliminary findings, Labake went to the residence of his lover to pick her cooking gas. On getting to the house, she met another woman there and a fight ensued.

“It was during the fight that she reportedly took a fork and stabbed Seun in the stomach. He died on the spot. The corpse of the deceased has been deposited in the Wesley Guild Hospital morgue in Ilesha.”
